What Do We Know About the Rise of Empire: Ottoman So Far?
First of all, the name of the series is going to be Rise of Empires: Ottoman. And the series will be released in English language, unlike Atiye – The Gift. Furthermore, differ from previous Turkish originals on Netflix, Rise of Empire: Ottoman will be released as a documentary series. However, the series will also contain fiction elements, which will potentially make the series more interesting and exciting.
In spite of all Turkish players acting in the series and one of the producer’s being a Turkish firm, the series is an American series. Meanwhile, this Turkish Producing Company is Karga Seven and is located in the USA, as well. As for another producing company, it is STVtx, which is an American Production Company already.
How Long will Rise of Empire: Ottoman Last?
Rise of Empire: Ottoman documentary series consists of 6 episodes. Each episode will take about an hour. On the other hand, as Netflix announced that the broadcasting time is January 24th. So, the series will be released as of January 24th, on Friday.

What is the Story and Who are the Players of the Rise of Empires: Ottoman Series?
The story of the series is mainly talking about the life of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II. The sultan, whom we mostly know as Mehmet the Conquerer, is of a very significant place in history. His significant role not only valid in Turkey’s, but also in the world’s history. Due to this reason, while the story is talking about the conquer of Istanbul (Constantinapolis), it will also reveal the crossing paths of Mehmed II and the Byzantine Emperor.
As for the players, there are plenty of talented Turkish actors and actresses will take part in this documentary series. For instance, world-famous Turkish actress Tuba Büyüküstün will play in the series. So, the leading roles are the young Turkish actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu (as Mehmed II, aka Mehmed the Conquerer) and Tomaso Basili (Italian actor, as the Byzantine King). And maybe the most excitingly, Charles Dance, best known as Tywin Lannister on HBO‘s world-famous series Game of Thrones, is the narrator of the documentary.

Selim Bayraktar, Osman Sonant, Damla Sönmez, Tolga Tekin and Ushan Çakir are also among the players in the series. Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who acts as Sultan Mehmed II, had also played of Netflix series Hakan: The Protector. He also played in Adı Efsane, a series of Turkish broadcaster Kanal D.
What Period is the Subject of the Series?
The series focuses on the story of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, who lived in the 15th century. Sultan II. Mehmed took the throne at the age of 13. So the series begins with the conquest of Istanbul and the rise of the Ottoman Empire.
Jada Miranda, Vice President of STXtv, the producer of the series, said: “As STXtv, the things draw our attention most is the stories which are capable of being a bridge among the opposite views in the world.”
The series was shot in various cities of Turkey as well as Istanbul. Emre Şahin, by the way, is the director of the Rise of Empires: Ottoman. In the meantime, Professor Celal Şengör and Dr Emrah Safa Gürkan are among the advisors of the series.
