Recipe: Turkish Stuffed Green Peppers

Every cuisine has its masterpieces. Stuffed green peppers -Turkish: Biber Dolması- is one of the peaks of Turkish cuisine which originates from the Sultan’s table.

Stuffed green peppers cooked with Turkish style appeals to the taste buds of all ages; the kids love it, your husband will love it and you will enjoy its oriental and fresh taste.

It is commonly known as cooking stuffed green peppers is very hard and requires great cooking skills but it is not true. You can easily cook delicious stuffed green peppers just by following our recipe!

Recipe of Turkish Stuffed Green Peppers:


10 sweet green peppers suitable for stuffing
200 gr ground meat
1,5 water glass of rice
1 big onion
2-3 tomatoes
2 table spoons of tomato paste
1 dessert spoon of chili pepper
Black pepper
Dry mint


1- Preparing the mixture

Cut the onion in cubic form and put into a deep mixing bowl. Put ground meat over the onion. Then put tomato paste, spices, oil, peeled and chopped tomatoes and rice in order. Then mix all ingredients.

2- Prepare the green peppers, stuff and cook

Put the mixture inside the pepper

Cut the top of sweet peppers for using as cap later on. After cutting take out the seeds of peppers and score the bottom of peppers finely to have a better result. Take pieces from mixture and put into cleansed peppers. Put a small piece of tomato under the top of mixture and close the little piece of pepper. Make a sauce by using hot water and a tablespoon of tomato paste, salt and black pepper. Put the stuffed peppers into the saucepan and pour the sauce over the stuffed pepper. Cook the peppers over the low heat. To understand whether your meal is ready or not you can check out rice in the peppers. If rice is cooked then your meal is ready.

Note: You may stuff this mixture not only green peppers but also use tomatoes, eggplants, vegetable marrow and other vegetables with same inner mixture.

After cooking the stuffed peppers, you may serve it by putting some yoghurt (with or without crushed garlic) on top of it then enjoy your Dolma!
