The festival president, Ogün Şanlıer started his opening speech by expressing the honour hosting in Istanbul. For this purpose, he honoured the influential, master figures both from national and international cinema. Şanlıer emphasized that this year’s festival slogan is “Istanbul’s festival”.     7th Bosphorus Film Festival Will Start With A Very Special Film 

    This year, The Bosphorus Film Festival will bring to the cinephiles a very special opening film. The closing film of 72nd Cannes Film Festival, “The Specials” will be on the screen right after the opening ceremony on October 18. Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache duo directed the movie. And the famous actor Vincent Cassel starred as the leading role. The movie is based on a true-life story and is about two idealist characters who have dedicated their lives to young people with autism. Dealing with social issues and starring famous actors such as Vincent Cassel and Reda Kateb is one of the most exciting films of the festival.

    Besides, 9 films from Turkey will be competing for the Golden Dolphin. So, the grant of the winner is 100.000 TRY at the National Feature Film Competition. The competition will host the outstanding films of the year. On the other hand, the 7th Bosphorus Film Festival have also revealed International Competition films. The films have had their world premiers at international festivals. So the films in this section will be competing for five categories. So, those categories are Best International Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Jury Special Prize. The Best Film of the competition will receive a monetary award worth 50,000 TL.

    7th Bosphorus Film Festival Will Host Kim Ki Duk!

    Kim Ki Duk is one of the pioneer directors of the South Korean cinema. Besides, he is a silent breath of the cinema, too. Kim Ki Duk is mostly famous for his unique style. So, the director is coming to Turkey to receive the Honorary Award from the 7th Bosphorus Film Festival. Above all, he has created his film language within his long filmmaking career.

    The pioneering director Kim Ki Duk has received many awards from the prominent film festivals including Berlin, Venice, and Cannes. And a special retrospective will be presented to the audiences within the festival. In addition to “The Net” and “Pieta”, “Human, Space, Time, Human” that was a part of the Berlin Film Festival will be on the screen for the first time in Turkey. So, having a Master Class within Bosphorus Film Lab, the director will be presented with the Honorary Award at the closing ceremony.

    International Bosphorus Cinema Association and Istanbul Media Academy will organize the 7th Bosphorus International Film Festival. The festival will run this year from October 18-25, 2019 and the screenings will take place in Atlas, Beyoğlu and Kadıköy movie theatres.

    The tickets for all short film screenings will be available for 5 TL. What’s more, for feature films, regular tickets for 12.00, 14.00 and 16.00 screenings will be available for 10 TL. On the other hand, for 19.30 and 21.30 screenings, 15 TL. Student tickets will be available for 5 TL for all the feature screenings.
