His maternal family is of Bosnian descent and his paternal family is of Turkish descent who immigrated from Bulgaria. (Turk ethnic minority in Bulgaria immigrated to Turkey). The actor, by the way, has a younger brother named Atalay.

After graduating from high school, Ulusoy firstly started studying at the Istanbul University’s Department of Garden Design and Landscaping. As a student, he then started to work as a model at the age of 19.

In this TV drama, the actor starred as the male lead Emir Sarrafoglu. The first two seasons of the series were successful. However, the third season was aired under another title Emir’in Yolu (Emir’s Way). And it was less successful and due to low rating numbers, producers canceled the series after a few episodes in 2012.

From 2013 until 2015, Ulusoy acted as Yaman Kopper, in “Medcezir“ (The Tide in English). The series was based on The O.C. In this intense Turkish TV series, the famous Turkish actor shared the leading role with the Turkish actress Serenay Sarıkaya. From 2016 until 2017, Ulusoy played the lead part in the TV series “İçerde“ (Inside). The series was mostly an adaptation of the movie The Departed.
As a trivia, the actor Çağatay Ulusoy bought a house in Santa Monica, California in 2016.
The Time When the Path of Netflix and Çağatay Ulusoy Cross
A three-year period of time between 2018 and 2020 became the biggest pick in the actor’s career. In 2018, the actor took the leading role in “Hakan: Muhafız“ (The Protector). The series was the first Turkish original series on Netflix, therefore, it became huge news. This development was going to change the destiny of both the actor and the Turkish entertainment sector.
In this first Turkish original Netflix series, The Protector, Çağatay Ulusoy played a double role, namely: Istanbul’s First Protector, named Harun Akinci, and Istanbul’s Last Protector named Hakan Demir! The series consists of 4 seasons and 32 episodes.
Following the end of Hakan: Muhafız (The Protector), the actor this time came to an agreement with Netflix with a new project. However, different from the previous one, this brand-new project was a film named “Kağıttan Hayatlar” (Paper Lives). It was a 97 minutes-long feature film and was telling the story of a paper collector on the streets who accidentally meet a little boy. As for the latter story, the audience witnesses the heartwarming friendship developing between the two.
With its touching story, the movie became successful and increased the actor’s popularity around the world.
