A promising and assertive Turkish drama on TV is about to sail very soon. The name of this Turkish TV drama is “Barbaroslar” (the captain of the seas in the Ottoman Empire and his other sailor brother).

The TV series that we are going to talk about is a giant production on TV just like its similar Diriliş: Ertuğrul (Resurrection: Ertugrul). What is the Story of Barbaroslar?

First of all, the historical TV drama Barbaroslar is an upcoming Turkish historical fiction television series. The creator of the production is ES Film. The TV drama stars some of the best Turkish actors and actresses. The lead stars are Engin Altan Düzyatan and Ulaş Tuna Astepe. He was, by the way, the leading character in Sen Anlat Karadeniz (Tell You the Black Sea). The main focus of the Turkish series is the life of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha, a “Kapudan Pasha” of the Ottoman Empire (captain or the master of the seas). 

The Turkish TV show focuses on the life of Hayreddin Barbarossa and his other sailor brothers. In the series, the audience will be watching the life of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha. He, by the way, helped to found the unforgettable empire of the Ottoman Empire. Hayrettin Pasha, he is commonly known as “Kaptan-ı Derya” in the history books, ensured Ottoman supremacy in the Mediterranean. As for the biggest supporter of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha, who succeeded to dominate all the coasts, it was his brother Oruç Reis.

Roughly, it is a story of how the Mediterranean turned into a Turk lake.

What most draws our attention is the powerful writer team of the series. Cüneyt Aysan, Ozan Aksungur, and Oğuz Ayaz are the screenwriters of this fictional historical drama. As for the filming location of the series, it is being filmed in Istanbul. However, in collaboration with Algeria, some of the scenes will be filmed in the Algerian Maghreb. The filming of the series began in the last weeks of March 2021.

We expect that the series is going to be on TV as of September 2021. The Turkish drama will probably have 5 or 6 episodes, and to be aired as soon as the filming is complete. It was on 20 June 2021 when the producers released the first teaser trailer for the series.

It is not for sure, but the release day of the series, on the other hand, will be on Friday.

  • Hayreddin Barbarossa (or Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha) is also famous as Hızır Hayrettin Pasha, and simply Hızır Reis.

  • When the calendar showed 1529, Barbarossa retook the Peñón of Algiers from the Spaniards.

In conclusion, Barbarossa was the grand admiral of the Ottoman Navy and he left his mark on the modernization of the navy. For the sake of his name, according to some historians, the Mediterranean became a Turkish lake in the mid of 16th century. And so, the Ottoman Navy gained great accomplishments on the sea.
